I can always expect good quality dim sum here. The wait can be quite long. Go early and you should be ok. Overall I would give it 5 stars. But on my last visit I noticed the egg custard buns changed. Sooo sad. it no longer has a creamy sweet custard filling. It's more grainy and not creamy. Very similar to an egg yolk bun. Not a fan. I am sorry but I need to take away 1 star for that. Please bring back the original. You already have an egg yolk bun. Bring back the original egg custard please.

The food itself was 4 stars. Very tasty dim sum but not the best I've ever had. The 2-hour wait for a table of six was def a buzz killer. Got there on Sunday around 11 and were seated around 1. Also, much more expensive than our fave NYC dim sum places. Amazing steamed pork buns and all kinds of delicious dumplings but unlikely I'll be going back for more... Definitely not without a long Russian novel.

Koi Palace is definitely an infamous dimsum spot in the Bay. The food here is probably one of the most authentic places I know. They have dishes like shark fin soup that are pretty good. A few drawbacks to this place though. First, if you go anytime on a weekend you can easily be waiting 2 hours for a table. After you finally get seated, it takes some effort to catch the attention of the people with carts. It somehow seems like all the carts you don't want come to you. Although the food is relatively good, the overall experience isn't something I'd recommend to a friend.

Again I ask myself is this place really worth the wait. I'm still coming despite the horrendous crowds of people. Also if you know the people who work here, you get to cut the line. I think that aggravates me the most.

The first meal in SF and I considered moving here just for this good dim sum place. We tried all the classic dim sum like shumai, chicken feet etc and they were all beyond amazing. Nothing in NY Chinatown can compare.

coming to this place on a weekend is like going to the DMV.... because there is always a long wait, and they hand you slips. Came here with my girlfriend and we had to wait for about an hour. Overall after we sat we ordered food from a menu. We ordered mainly all the known dishes from Xiao Long Bao to Hargow, Siu Mai, Shrimp Rolls, taro puffs, and etc. Overall this si one of my favorite dim sum places, must get the durian puff if you love durian, its out of this world. the chicken feet w/ abalone sauce was a bit different but was really good! my favorite was the shrimp roll. High quality dim sum, a bit pricey and long of a wait, worth the wait though.

Ummmmmm wish I had gone to my usual spot. The service was prompt and nice. It's busy, but the staff are doing their best and hustle. The food: disappointed, it was really not good. To be fair to the restaurant, we only had dumplings/apps. The tofu app was super salty and weird tasting, the egg yolks used must have been old. No dipping sauce, but we asked and they promptly brought it out. Pork dumplings also had a weird taste. The Shanghai dumplings were ok-- have had them elsewhere and they were much much tastier. Wouldn't go back, and if you are curious... I'd say no need to be.
